About Doorways for Women and Families
As you warm up your vocal chords and select your favorite song in preparation for tonight's Broadway karaoke fundraiser, we hope that you'll take a moment to learn a little more about the incredible organization you'll be supporting!
In 1978, Doorways for Women and Families began as a safe place for families in crisis in Arlington, Virginia. In the ensuing 40 years, Doorways has grown into an impressive and intricate network of counseling, housing, and employment support for women, men, and children seeking safety from domestic and sexual violence.
Each year, thousands of individuals receive care and support from Doorways' experienced and compassionate staff members, including, but not limited to:
a 24-Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Hotline, which provides crisis intervention and immediate assistance to victims seeking help;
Court Advocacy services for survivors who need assistance navigating the legal system to protect themselves and their children;
Arlington's only Domestic Violence Safehouse, Safe Kennel, and Safe Apartments;
the Freddie Mac Foundation Family Home for those families experiencing homelessness; and
Hospital Accompaniment for survivors seeking medical attention.
By supporting Doorways at That's Our Cue's fundraiser tonight, you will be helping Northern Virginia's most vulnerable residents achieve security and independence through empathy, collaboration, integrity, inclusivity, empowerment, and respect.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at online or at the door!
In addition to $10 from each ticket sale, 20% of food and beverage proceeds will also go to Doorways for Women and Families thanks to our amazing friends at Mr. Henry's, so make sure you come hungry!
