About Offender Aid & Restoration
Thank you for joining us in raising awareness and funds for the important services provided by Offender Aid and Restoration of Arlington County, Inc. (OAR) at our July Broadway karaoke benefit. We hope that you'll take a moment to learn a little more about the incredible organization your actions have supported.
In 1968, a movement began to improve the criminal justice system by empowering incarcerated individuals to lead responsible and productive lives. Also called restorative justice, this system and its supporters believed that instructional programs and ongoing contact with community volunteers could break the socially and economically costly cycle of recidivism.
The Offender Aid and Restoration of Arlington County, Inc. (OAR) was established in 1974 by a local group of women from Arlington, Virginia, who envision a "safe and thriving community where those impacted by the criminal justice system enjoy equal civil and human rights." Today, the model has been adopted by six organizations in Virginia, New Jersey, and Indiana.
Through its community service programs and reentry services, OAR helps individuals currently and formerly incarcerated and those court-mandated to complete community service hours - and their families - to make the transition out of incarceration and into successful workplace and personal relationships.
Individuals who have been incarcerated in the Arlington or Alexandria detention facilities;
Individuals who have been incarcerated anywhere in the country and are returning to live in Arlington, the City of Alexandria, or the City of Falls Church; and
Individuals who are mandated by the Arlington or Falls Church courts to complete community service hours.
By providing incarcerated individuals with empathy, compassion, and opportunity, OAR enriches the communities of Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church. That's Our Cue is proud to sponsor this admirable organization and we are so thankful for your support! We hope to see you at our next karaoke benefit on September 24, 2018. More details to come soon.
